w(here);

w(here);

now,

hello,

our future.

forget about

2017,

what about

2100?

2500?

3000?

it’s just

plug ins,

nowhere for

connection

(meaningful).

so eager for

rush,

we don’t

take our time.

we explore

oceans deep,

planets far,

forgetting

a home

right here.

many of us

hate.

only a few of us

hope.

but all of us

look back,

look forward.

yes, we

wonder

what you

hold.

This poem expresses my confusion and resentment towards the way we live our lives: plugged in, unconnected to others, uncaring towards our world, and always caught up in the past, or the future. With time, I hope we can come to realize that the only way we can completely ensure a brighter tomorrow is through real connection with others, care for our world, and appreciation for today.
